Assessment: Marked tests belonging to each section of the communication part of the course. The final course mark is the integer part of the weighted mean values. The Excel-, Word- and PowerPoint tests are marked G/U (approved or failed) and should all be approved to get a final course mark. Well done Excel test can raise the final course mark.

Aim
The course aims to let the student be familiar with both the practical and theoretical foundations of oral and written presentation. The written presentation part of the course is enlarged to include fundamental technical engineering troubleshooting.
Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must
- be well acquainted with different demands on both oral and written presentation.
- be acquainted with the foundations of rhetoric and public performance.
Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must
- be able to communicate oral and written both as a student and as an engineer.
- be able to execute information and literature retrieval.
- be able to use the fundamental functions in a modern calculating application, wordprocessing application and presentations application.
- be able to solve fundamental technical engineering troubleshooting.
Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must
- be able to understand and estimate criticism of the sources.
- be able to relate to different rhetorical descriptions.
Contents
The course deals with fundamental communication (both oral and written) on an engineering basis. The student is trained practically in public performance, rhetoric, going into opposition and the methodology of writing reports. To be able to handle the written communication the course also includes fundamental parts of a modern calculating application, wordprocessing application and presentations application.
