Credits: 6. Grading scale: UG. Cycle: A (Second Cycle). Main field: Architecture. Language of instruction: The course will be given in English on demand. Optional for: A4. Course coordinator: Associate Professor Bernt Nilsson,, Architecture and Built Environment. Prerequisites: At least three years approved full time education at university level (or a Bachelor degree) in architecture, or equivalent. The course might be cancelled if the number of applicants is less than 10. Assessment: Approved exercises, approved final presentation and 80% presence at seminars and lectures.

To give an understanding of tectonic meanings in architecture and understanding for the construction as a means of expressing space and aesthetic.

The course is built up from the study of some buildings with legible and interesting tectonic characteristics. The buildings are discussed in lectures, seminars and in the practical work. The buildings are from different historical periods to describe common phenomenon in architecture.
