ENGINEERING TRAINING COURSEVBRF01

Higher education credits: 15. Grading scale: UG. Level: G2 (First level). Language of instruction: The course might be given in English. Optional for: BI3. Course coordinator: Robert Jönsson, robert.jonsson@brand.lth.se, Brandteknik och riskhantering. Selection criteria: Students will be selected based on their letter of application, grades (courses passed) and a personal interview. Assessment: Students will be assessed based on a written, theoretical/analytical report and a poster, both of which are to be presented at a seminar. To obtain a Pass, the student is required to work fulltime at the chosen or assigned place of work. The supervisor at the place of work must certify that the student has been present for the required period of time, and has played an active part at the workplace. In the case of illness, the supervisor at LTH must be informed, and he or she will determine whether the period of absence is reasonable in relation to the length of the course. Further information: The proposed project plan is to be approved by the LTH supervisor/examiner before commencing the course. The external party is to provide a named supervisor for the whole period. Both supervisors must devote the time and effort required to help the student in his or her work. Instruction is to take place within the framework of the project carried out at the place of work.

Aim
The intention of the course is to stimulate discussions and reflections concerning the professional role of the engineer, through work experience. The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and abilities required to work independently as an engineer, and to provide examples of the situations and problems facing engineers and ways of dealing with them.
