INTRODUCTION TO WORKSHOP TRAINING

Higher education credits: 5. Grading scale: UG. Level: G1 (First level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. IDEA30 overlap following cours/es: IDE020 och IDE020. Compulsory for: MD1. Course coordinator: Visiting senior lecturer Karl-Axel Andersson, Karl-Axel.Andersson@design.lth.se, Industridesign. Assessment: Passed presented exercises.

Aim
The purpose of the course is to in a secure way introduce the students to the possibilities and restrictions in the use of a workshop.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

under supervision be able to operate the traditional workshop machines, like bandsaw, lathe and milling machine.
from a technical drawing be able to manufacture a simple composed model.

Contents
From the start the students are trained hands-on in traditional workshop machinery under supervision. Lectures cover topics like working methods, security regulations, tools and materials. In the frame of some restrictions the student is supposed to design and manufacture a composed product.
