Aim
The course gives an advanced comprehension for principles and construction of communication systems.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

be able to describe different communication protocols and their functionality

be able to explain models of hierarchical structures of computer networks

be able to describe for sessions and applications and their role in the interplay between different protocol layers

be able to describe the connections that exists within different distributed communication networks

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

be able to handle tools for studying performance of hierarchical protocol layers in computer network models

be able to analyze and describe communication network protocols

Contents
The course covers among other things the following areas:

Laboratory work: The course includes several laboratory works, where the theoretical knowledge is applied in practice.

Project: The course contains one project. This part is marked as approved or not approved.
