APPLIED AESTHETICS, VISUAL COMMUNICATION ABILITY, PART II

Higher education credits: 6. Grading scale: UG. Level: G1 (First level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. Compulsory for: KID1. Course coordinator: University lecturer Maria Udriot, Maria.Udriot@arkitektur.lth.se, Inst för arkitektur och byggd miljö. Prerequisites: AFO240. Assessment: Approved exercises. 80% attendance is demanded at lectures and exercises.

Aim

To learn about colour theories and exercise the ability to read colour in reality.
To broaden knowledge about visual communications as well as the meaning of the senses regarding creation of form.
Clearly elaborate arts culture and the aesthetic point of view in technique, colour and composition.
To practice sketching, drawing, painting, and modelling, in order to use these and other expressions in the reflection about objects in relation to space.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

with the help of guidance be able to use analog och digital tools in basic colour analysis.
Analyse their observations of colour effects in space in a critical way as well as visually communicate them.
Demonstrate different representation tecniques and metothods of form- and colour creation.

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

be able to create colour and spatial contexts using visual methods.

Contents

Exercises in 3-dimensional composition and graphic performance.
Use of different methods in image creation of space and object.
Experimental exercises about the relationship between object and space.

The course is given as four exercises. Each exercise starts with a lecture introducing the subject and ends with a discussion.
