INTRODUCTION TO FIRE AND RISK ENGINEERINGVBRA01

Higher education credits: 8. Grading scale: UG. Level: G1 (First level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. VBRA01 overlap following cours/es: VBR150 och VBR162. Compulsory for: BI1. Course coordinator: Robert Jönsson, robert.jonsson@brand.lth.se, Brandteknik och riskhantering. The number of participants is limited to 60 Assessment: The examination takes the form of three assignments (advanced assignments) that have to be presented both in writing and orally, together with approved self-tests and a laboratory report. All the assignments must be approved for the student to successfully complete the course. In addition, compulsory attendance at all seminars, laboratory sessions, and a practicum day at the Räddningsskolan (Rescue Service School) in Revinge is required. Aim
The aim is for the students to obtain a broad and general knowledge in the field of fire safety engineering and risk management. The course is also aimed at providing participants with knowledge on the nature of the communication and influencing process, as well as training them to apply these knowledge skills in various situations. This aims at giving the students insights and experience in oral presentations, with emphasis placed on inter-personal communication, the art of persuasion, and public speaking / teaching techniques.
