BUILDING TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICESVBF015

Higher education credits: 7,5. Grading scale: TH. Level: G1 (First level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. VBF015 overlap following cours/es: ABK220 och ABK220. The course might be cancelled if the numer of applicants is less than 15. Assessment: Written examination. To pass the course the students also must fulfil and pass a project and a drawing exercise. Aim
To give the student a general knowledge consideríng terminology, common building technology and building services systems and give understanding in how a building functions as a technical system in collaboration with the inhabitants.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

be able to describe the construction of a building and its building services systems.

be able to understand how heat, air and moisture is transported in a building and its components.

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

be able to valuate the influence of the construction and building services on the indoor environment, the energy need and moisture safety.

be able to analyse elementary technical problems related to the building.

be able to discuss technical solutions with other actors within building and real estate management sector.

Contents
Factors that define the indoor climate.

Theories for understanding heat-, air- and moisture transfer in buildings.

The function of the most common climate systems for heating, ventilation, tap water and waste water in buildings of different ages.

Common moisture damages in houses and its consequences.

The energy use in buildings.

Reading common building- and building services drawings.

Project work describing a building with problems with the indoor climate and/or technical problems, find casual connections and propose improvements.
