TEAMWORK AND LEADERSHIP 1TMA041

Higher education credits: 1,5. Grading scale: UG. Level: A (Second level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. TMA041 overlap following cours/es: ??1708, TMA040, ??1708 och TMA040. Compulsory for: TEMA3. Course coordinator: Stein Kleppestö, stein.kleppesto@fek.lu.se, Företagsekonomiska inst. Prerequisites: For participation in the course, the student is required to be accepted for the Technology Management program. Recommended prerequisits: This course is eligible to candidates that has completed Technology Management course Lund University. This course is compulsory for Technology Management majors. Assessment: The students are evaluated continually during the course partly based on discussions and observations, partly based on written reports and oral presentations based on individual and team work. Further information: The course can only be accomplished in teams. The group constellations are determined by the course leader.

Aim
The aim of this course is to develop and train the students in their ability to work in teams and to lead others. Further the purpose is to motivate the students for personal development. This includes a life long learning, continues and contextual learning and a self managed development and learning.

A condition for the course is that the students show a willingness to develop and an active participation in the various parts of the course. The students are expected to take Responsibility for own as well as fellow students learning.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

be able to understand basic phenomena in team work

be able to understand basic phenomena in leadership

be able to understand the need for reflection and self assessment in teamwork and leadership

be able to understand the basic patterns of own behaviour in team work and leadership

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

be able to express and present an increased ability to reflect on own behaviour in teamwork and leadership

be able to express and present an increased willingness and ability to give and take feed back

be able to express and present an increased ability for self managed learning and development

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

be able to express and present an increased responsibility for own and others need for development and feed back in team work and leadership

Contents
During the course the following topics are addressed; teambuilding, communication, listening skills, feedback techniques and self awareness in a management perspective. The course is inspired by problem based and experience based learning. The examination is based on an individual report focusing on the students’ reflections on the content of the course and what implications it has on the students’ understanding and attitude towards leadership.
