Higher education credits: 6. Grading scale: TH. Level: A (Second level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in English on demand. Optional for: E4, E4em, M4, M4en, W4, W4ea. Course coordinator: Prof Lennart Thörnqvist, Lennart.Thornqvist@vok.lth.se, Energivetenskaper. Recommended prerequisits: FMS035 Statistics, MMV050 Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics, MIO012 Managerial Economics, and MVK340 Energy and the Environment. Assessment: Both individual examination and examination based upon group performance. Compulsory written report is presented and discussed in group seminars. The same applies to the compulsory industrial study tour. Participation in an energy political role-game is compulsory as well as four knowledge tests based upon the study course literature. Approved exercises are sufficient for grade three. For higher grades an individual oral examination is required. Home page: http://www.vok.lth.se.

Aim
The study course is intended to give knowledge about energy use in various sectors of society, its level, structure, development, and influencing factors as well as knowledge and application skill in methods and instruments for energy use analyses and forecasts.

Contents
Energy utilisation in various sectors of society is characterized with respect to level, energy carrier, quality demands etc. The sustainablity of energy use, load/energy relations, substitution possibilities, synchronous load effects. Price level sensitivity of energy utilisation. Forecasts and forecasting methods applied to various consumer groups. Practical analysis of energy demand and energy utilisation.
