STEAM AND GAS TURBINE ENGINEERINGMVK051

Higher education credits: 7,5. Grading scale: TH. Level: A (Second level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. Optional for: M4, M4en, M4fs, W4ea. Course coordinator: Magnus Genrup, Magnus.Genrup@vok.lth.se, Energivetenskaper. Prerequisites: MVK026 Theory of Turbomachinery. Assessment: The examination is carried out individually and in group. The compulsory project assignments have to be presented written as well as orally in seminars, where all group members are required to participate actively. To pass the course, the student must pass all of the compulsory tasks. Home page: http://www.vok.lth.se.

Aim
The course will provide the basic understanding of the construction and functioning of the components in a simple gas turbine and steam turbines. The focus will be on the gas turbines. Further more the course will provide basic skills in problem solving concerning energy balances at component and system level, the flow around the blades and vanes, simplified combustion analysis and calculation of efficiencies and losses.
