MMK080

Higher education credits: 4,5. Grading scale: UG. Level: G1 (First level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in English. Optional for: M4. Course coordinator: University lecturer Per Kristav, per.kristav@mkon.lth.se, Maskinkonstruktion. Recommended prerequisits: MMK010 Manual and Computer Aided Drafting in Mechanical Engineering or similar course. The course might be cancelled if the numer of applicants is less than 3. Assessment: Examination is based on attendance. In order to pass, the project work and the exercises must be executed and approved. Aim
The aim is that the student shall be able to illustrate and model ideas and design concepts, this by using the free hand sketching tools of the industrial designer and 3D-modelling in plastics. The aim is hence that the student shall learn how to master perspective drawing, sketching mehods and sketch tools as Ad markers, aquarelle pancils and dry pastels.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

be able to apply basic illustrative perspectives.
be able to apply basic sketching rules and tools.
be able to practice mock-up making.

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

be able to create basic perspective sketches and mock-up models.
be able to use sketch tools as Ad markers, aquarelle pancils and dry pastels.

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

want to sketch and create mock-up models!

Contents
Basic illustrative techniques in supporting the industrial design process, as well as plastic modulation, forms the body of the course.
