For a passing grade the student must

show understanding for human needs, generally and in this project in specific situations

show understanding for the relation between man and the physical environment.

• have knowledge about basic conditions for man in space and be able to relate design adaptations and solutions to these conditions

• define an individual project

• understand and relate to links between different levels in the individual project

• present and communicate ideas and solutions

• show ability in visionary thinking in the design process

• be able to handle, classify and document large amounts of information

• show ability to transfer data into knowledge

• show ability in the planning and development of complex projects and processes

• show ability to from problem definition through analysis come to and visualize a design solution/conclusion

• be able to visualize and communicate ideas and solutions

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

in the studies/project work relate to the systematic as well as the intuitive process.
• in the project assume the needs of a human being as point of origin.

• reflect over the thought of ‘humans in space’ and what that may suggest and imply.

Contents
S.T.A.R (Space and Terrestrial Architectural Research) Design started 1998 as a project in cooperation with NASA, Lyndon B. Johnson Space Centre in Houston, Texas, USA. It is a project in continuous development in which the thematic vary according to what field of work the focus of the collaborators is on at present. The studio emphasises the study of humans in space, i.e. human space flights, building and living in space on e.g. Mars or the Moon.

Human needs and the human dependency on the environment as surroundings and objects constitutes the foundation of the project. The project is divided up in three phases; 1) Humans in space. Prepearatory studies with general information, lectures and workshops. 2) Field trip to NASA, Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center i Houston Texas, USA. The students work with the human aspect of current issues in the space program for ISS,
