AUTOMOTIVE DESIGNIDE150

Higher education credits: 4,5. Grading scale: TH. Level: G1 (First level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in English on demand. Optional for: ID3. Course coordinator: Charlotte Sjödell, Charlotte.Sjodell@design.lth.se, Industridesign. Prerequisites: Needs to have completed 1st year at the industrial design programme. The course might be cancelled if the numer of applicants is less than 8. The number of participants is limited to 20 Selection criteria: lottery. Assessment: Examination requires class participation, completion of home assignments and completion of final presentation.

Aim
Introduction of the basic techniques used in transportation design.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

- with sketches, renderings and sketch-model present a design for a vehicle.

- digitally and verbally present the initial idea, process and design concept.

Contents
The course is held weekly and contains a lecture part and a group critic. The lecture covers the following topics:

- make and use of a “mood board”

- sketch techniques

- Photoshop rendering

- presentation techniques
