COMPUTER ENGINEERING OVERVIEW

EDT632

Higher education credits: 6. Grading scale: UG. Level: G1 (First level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. EDT632 overlap following cours/es: EDT630, EDT631, EDTA01, EDT630, EDT631 och EDTA01. Compulsory for: IDA1. Aim
To give an overview of the various courses contained in the program.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

be able to explain basic concepts in programming.
be able to design simple electronic circuits.

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

be able to acquire and structure information and present it written and orally.

Contents
The sectional course on Computer Technology will provide an overview on computer construction and insight into how it functions. The computers building blocks are presented, hardware as well as software. The areas treated are:

Basic terms: Computer, algorithm, programme and system.
Basic principles. Computer construction.
Embedded systems.
Computers in a network.
The history of the computer and its importance in todays society.

The sectional course on Programming will provide an insight into fundamental programming and programming language. The areas treated are:

Terminology.
Sequential programming.
Basic data structures.

The sectional course on Presentation Technique is comprised of the following:

Interpersonal communication.
The formal arrangement of, and requirements for reports and lectures.
Written proficiency.
Oral proficiency.
Examination of reports and presentations.
