Higher education credits: 7,5. Grading scale: UG. Level: A (Second level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in English. Optional for: D4, D4dpd, E4, E4dps, MSOC2. Prerequisites: Students must have passed VLSI Architecture (EIT130) or EIT090 Computer Architecture and EDI021/EDI022 Digital Systems, Project Laboratory or equivalent. The number of participants is limited to 25 Selection criteria: Interview. Ranking is established by an evaluation of the applicants’ capability of accomplishing the course successfully. Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

be able to model a federated sensory network over many design and implementation levels

provide behavioural scenarios and use semantics in UML

include measures on reliability and manufacturability early in the development process

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

· plan the development of a product

· create a cost-effective product

· debug a product in real-time

· ensure manufacturability of a product

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

guarantee just-in-time product quality

When the course starts a project plan is presented stating the problem and suggesting a technical approach together with a project organization and a large number of result oriented checkpoints. A project manager is appointed by the class and given the responsibility to coordinate the work. Project meetings are held regularly where results are being reported and important design decisions reviewed. A large part of the actual design work is focused on developing a number of models of the final system.
