Materialhantering

Credits: 3. Grading scale: TH. Optional for: I3XIE. Course coordinator: PhD Student Mikael Ståhl Elvander, mikael.stahl_elvander@tlog.lth.se, Teknisk logistik. Recommended prerequisites: MIO012 Managerial Economics, Basic Course (or equivalent). Aim
The course gives basic as well as advanced knowledge regarding the creation of an effective and efficient material flow in a company. The course also gives skills in methods to analyse material flows and materials handling needs and how to choose and design material handling systems. The goal is also to give a short introduction to queuing theory.

Contents
Material flow analysis, fixed and flexible handling equipment, load carriers and unit loads packages, storage and warehouse equipment, terminal automation, and layout planning, analysis of stock levels, and tools for designing optimal stock levels, queuing theory and simulation.

Credits: 1. Grading scale: UG. Assessment: Completed cases. Contents: In a case the students in groups (3-4) should solve a fictitious company's materials handling problems. A written PM should be presented. Furthermore completed exercise works and assignments are requested.
