Aim
To give basic knowledge about the field of production technology, dealing with machines, tools and manufacturing principles used for giving various products its shapes and properties. The student will gain general knowledge of a number of manufacturing methods and material properties and behavior for metallic materials.

Contents
The course content includes folling goups of methods: formning and shaping, material removal/machining operations and non-mechanical machining methods, including spark and laser machining. Also tolerances, dimensional and surface measurements as well as basic knowledge about materials technology (material and deformation models) is presented.
