The course might be cancelled if the numer of applicants is less than 10.
Assessment: Approved exercises, approved paper, and at least 80% attendance at lectures, reviews, excursions and seminars.
Aim
The aim of the course is to develop the students ability to value and develop the urban structures importance for living environments, and to gain understanding for the complex problematic in connection with renewal and development of existing environments. The aim is also to develop the connections between theory and practice, and develop this individually and written.
Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must
- be able to understand and interpret texts on urban quality questions
- individually and written be able to make researches into optional subject in urban design
Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must
- estimate and value the physical environments influence on social life
- individually and written make researches into optional subject in urban design
- individually and written evaluate and make conclusions on optional subject in urban design
Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must
- value different qualities and understand the connection between physical environments and social life
- value design of urban form in relation to long-term sustainability
Contents
The course is about urban quality and urban form and their relation. The focus is the independent essay writing, which will be presented at a seminar together with opponents.
