Aim
The course aims to give the students fundamental knowledge of the extensive work going on in Europe with regard to improving the competitiveness of the railways through harmonisation of the system of rules, technical infrastructure solutions and so on

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

describe the EU-system of rules in the area of transport and relate this to its Swedish counterpart

be able to give an account of and understand the significance of standardisation in the railway sector

give an account of the actors that are involved in standardisation work and what roles they have, as well as identify their interests.

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

review and analyse the technical standardisation work ongoing in respect of TEN (Trans European Network), and present the results in a report

The EU’s system of rules in respect of the transport field

Organisation and control of renewal work on the system of rules, technical standards and the like

Sweden’s role in this work

Rules and organisation are combined in a project
