Aim
The aim of the course is to provide in-depth knowledge of concepts and methods in satellite geodesy (GPS) and geodetic surveying with applications to real problems. The course creates and develops an understanding of the interconnections of geodesy, physical geodesy, map projections, satellite geodesy and geodetic surveying

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

Have an understanding and knowledge of the connection that constitutes a prerequisite for the combination of satellite positioning and terrestrial surveying.

Formulate various types of mathematical models for geodetic problem-solving with the help of ordinary least squares (OLS) and other calculation models.

Understand and draw up solutions to various practical problems according to the rules and norms

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

For a passing grade the student must:

Analyse and interpret the results obtained from calculations of different types of errors and tolerances theory.

Assess the reliability of an ordinary least squares calculation

Contents
The fundamental principles and definitions of geodesy, map projections, control point surveying, transformations, plane and levelling measurements, and theory of errors and tolerances.

The course comprises satellite positioning, terrestrial surveying and photogrammetry and their interconnections. Principles and fundamentals of geodetic surveying based on Swedish norms and rules for satellite surveying, map projections, control point network, transformations, plane and levelling measurements, theory of errors and tolerances, tolerance demands in the building and construction branch and photogrammetry. Considerable emphasis is placed on the connection between locations based on satellite and terrestrial techniques.

The teaching consists of lectures, exercises and field work
