Syllabus academic year 2007/2008
APPLIED THERMODYNAMICSMVK170

Higher education credits: 6. Grading scale: TH. Level: G2 (First level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. Optional for: M3, M3en. Course coordinator: Prof Mohsen Assadi, Mohsen.Assadi@vok.lth.se, Energivetenskaper. Prerequisites: MMV050 Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics. Assessment: The examination is carried out individually and in group. The compulsory project assignments have to be presented written as well as orally in seminars, where all group members are required to participate actively. To pass the course, the student must pass all of the compulsory tasks. To receive the higher grade (4) the student must pass the written exam. Passing the written exam is necessary for participation in the oral exam to get the highest grade (5). Neither the written nor the oral exam is compulsory. Home page: http://www.vok.lth.se.

Aim
The students will apply previously acquired knowledge in thermodynamics to real cases within the field of thermal power engineering. The students will also learn to understand the function of the components and be able to dimension components of the thermal power plants. This course will provide skills to use different tools for analysis of components and systems for electricity and heat production.
