Higher education credits: 7,5. Grading scale: TH. Level: A (Second level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. Optional for: M4, M4en, M4fs. Course coordinator: Mohsen Assadi,, Energivetenskaper. Prerequisites: MVK026 Theory of Turbomachinery. Assessment: The examination is carried out individually and in group. The compulsory project assignments have to be presented written as well as orally in seminars, where all group members are required to participate actively. To pass the course, the student must pass all of the compulsory tasks. To receive the higher grade (4) the student must pass the written exam. Passing the written exam is necessary for participation in the oral exam to get the highest grade (5). Neither the written nor the oral exam is compulsory. Home page:

The course will provide the basic understanding of the construction and functioning of the components in a simple gas turbine and steam turbines. The focus will be on the gas turbines. Further more the course will provide basic skills in problem solving concerning energy balances at component and system level, the flow around the blades and vanes, simplified combustion analysis and calculation of efficiencies and losses.
