Aim
The course provides an opportunity for in-depth study and practical application of the theoretical knowledge acquired in the courses MTT021/MTT091 Materials Handling and MAM026 Work Organization. The course offers the student practical experience and increases her/his ability to identify, analyse and solve the problems in the subject areas of materials handling and work organization.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

• have aquired an increased understanding of, and ability to independently carry out and present, a project from problem to solution

• have aquired a basic understanding about how changes in the materials handling process may have an influence on a company's other activities as well as how companies organise their work

• have aquired an increased knowledge of report writing and presentation techniques.

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

• have aquired practical experience and skills in problem identification and problem solving.

• have aquired skills in how to methodically identify, describe and analyse real materials flows and processes within a company.

• be able to adapt the design of the technical production system in relation to productivity, work organization and work satisfaction.

• have aquired increased skills in report writing and presentation techniques and a solid foundation for future project assignments.

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

• have been encouraged to work independently and stimulated to critical thinking.

Contents
The course is carried out in groups of 4 to 5 students. Each group will, with the help of their advisor, choose and define a project task. The project assignments will be carried out at a company, and the subject areas of materials handling and work organization will receive equal attention.
