Assessment: The examination consist of two parts: Project work (i.e. large case) which is conducted in a team (with the maximum of four students) and an individual written examination. The final grade is balanced between the written examination (60%) and the project work (40 %). Case seminars, presentation and discussion/debate of the project work are obligatory. Aim
The course Strategic management has the theme”Organisation and management/strategy”. Within this theme the goal is to give knowledge in especially at the development, planning, and methods at the strategic and tactical levels in industrial companies. This includes for example strategic planning, organizational structure and human resources development at the level of strategic management.

After the course the student shall be competent to use the establish concepts within the area of strategy and organization to support their understanding of Swedish and international enterprising.

Contents
The course consists of an overview of different strategy and organization schools including relevant models and key concepts. Great emphasis is put on the visualization and the integration between theory and application in different kinds of companies with a special focus on the industrial company. The assumption in the course is that the organizational structure and the systems of planning are in near correlation with the company environment and business idea. The course also focuses on the structure of the planning system where different levels of planning are considered - strategic, tactical and operational. The alignment between strategic and organizational planning at different company levels and within different areas (market, product, and organisation, economy) is an essential element of the course.
