Electrical measurements relates to almost all professional areas where a person with a M.Sc. in Engineering will be active. It may, e.g., be detailed studies on signals from nerve cells in the brain, light detection in optical fibers or manufacturing supervision in process plants. The development of new measurement methods and transducers occurs at an increasing rate, where especially the developments in the area of microsystem technology plays a major role. The course gives a deeper understanding of the measurement methods that have been used and will be used in other courses and in the professional life.

Fundamental concepts like loading of the measurement objects, influence of noise, uncertainty in the results and calibration. Analog and digital oscilloscopes, probes and their limitations, A/D and D/A conversion, digital multimeter, measurement of time and frequency with universal counter, measurement of frequency spectra with spectrum- and FFT-analyser (FFT – Fast Fourier Transform).
