URBAN DESIGN: LANDSCAPE AND GARDENASB111

Higher education credits: 6. Grading scale: UG. Level: A (Second level). Language of instruction: The course might be given in English. ASB111 overlap following cours/es: ASBN25. Compulsory for: MSUD1. Optional for: A4. Course coordinator: Assistant Professor Peter Siöström, Peter.Siostrom@arkitektur.lth.se, Inst för arkitektur och byggd miljö. The course might be cancelled if the numer of applicants is less than 10. Assessment: Approved exercises, approved paper, and at least 80% attendance at lectures, reviews, excursions and seminars.

Aim
The aim of the course is to value and develop the student’s knowledge about the landscape’s, the urban green structure’s and the garden’s importance for living environments, and understanding for the connections between theory and practice, and develop this individually and written.

Contents
The course deals with different aspects of landscape and garden, as garden design history, the cultural landscape, the urban landscape and the importance of green areas, and the interplay between these different parts. The focus is the independent essay writing, which will be presented at a seminar together with opponents.
