Aim
The aim of the course is to value and develop the student’s knowledge about the landscape’s, the urban green structure’s and the garden’s importance for living environments, and understanding for the connections between theory and practice, and develop this individually and written.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

• individually and written be able to formulate a presentation of a problem/optional subject within landscape, urban green structure or garden

• be able to analyse and describe experiences from excursions

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

• be able to estimate and value the relation between built environments and nature

• individually and written be able to make researches into optional subject within landscape, green structure and garden

• individually and written be able to evaluate and make conclusions within optional subject within landscape, green structure and garden

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

• be able to value the qualities of green rooms and understand the connection and difference between urban and rural greenery

• be able to value the design of landscape in relation to long-term sustainability

Contents
The course deals with different aspects of landscape and garden, as garden design history, the cultural landscape, the urban landscape and the importance of green areas, and the interplay between these different parts. The focus is the independent essay writing, which will be presented at a seminar together with opponents.
