Aim
The course aims to increase individual students’ knowledge on aesthetics and enhance their ability to describe, judge and communicate about aesthetic quality and aesthetic qualities in a professionel manner. The course aims further to enhance their ability to pursue aesthetic experiments in different materials and techniques with the purpose to widen their creatuve ability.

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

• give an oral and written description of some common aesthetic problems.

Skills and abilities
For a passing grade the student must

• describe different shades of aesthetic qualities of products.

• show a developed abiltiy to shape three-dimensional forms, for example by casting objects in concrete.

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

• exhibit a developed ability to make aesthetic judgements of products.

• put his or her aesthetic values, as presented in discussions about the aesthetic qualities of products, into a social, cultural and historic context.

Contents
The course includes a series of exercises leading to the establishment by every student of a personal aesthetic manifestoe. In these exercises students develop a conscious relationship to their own aesthetic ideals and set of values, and trains to analyse aesthetic statements. In addition to this a practical, creative exercise where the ability to model three-dimensional form is conducted.
