APPLIED AESTHETICS, VISUAL STRUCTURES, PART IIAFO225

Higher education credits: 4,5. Grading scale: UG. Level: G1 (First level). Language of instruction: The course will be given in Swedish. Compulsory for: ID2. Course coordinator: University lecturer Mats Hultman, Mats.Hultman@arkitektur.lth.se, Inst för arkitektur och byggd miljö. Assessment: The individual student can either Pass or Fail. To achieve a Pass, he or she must have submitted material that is approved and shall in addition have at least an eighty per cent active attendance at seminars and lectures.

Aim
The course aims to increase individual students’ knowledge on aesthetics and enhance their ability to describe, judge and communicate about aesthetic quality and aesthetic qualities in a professionel manner. The course aims further to enhance their ability to pursue aesthetic experiments in different materials and techniques with the purpose to widen their creatuve ability.

Contents
The course includes a series of exercises leading to the establishment by every student of a personal aesthetic manifestoe. In these exercises students develop a conscious relationship to their own aesthetic ideals and set of values, and trains to analyse aesthetic statements. In addition to this a practical, creative exercise where the ability to model three-dimensional form is conducted.
