Aim
The course aims at giving an overview of the factors that influence the choice and design of industrial production processes for chemicals regarding the technical status, environmental issues, economy and the competiton on the market between various raw materials and processes.

Contents
The lectures describe a selection of processes for the production of inorganic and organic chemicals, fuels, and the reduction of emissions. Tasks related to industrial processes and process simulations are performed. Production processes that are treated concern synthesis gas, ammonia, nitric acid, sulphuric acid, formaldehyde, n-butyraldehyde, hydrogenation, oil refining, desulphurization, catalytic cracking, synthetic fuels, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Moreover, techniques for the treatment of emissions are described.

Literature
Compendia, articles and selected parts from textbooks. The material can be obtained from the department.
