Credits: 4. Grading scale: TH. Optional for: D4, E4. Course coordinator: Christian Nyberg, Inst f telekommunikationssystem. Recommended prerequisites: Communication Systems (ETS010) or (ETS020). Aim
The main purpose of the course is to give an understanding how komplex telecommunication systems can be studied by building models in a computer and perform measurements.

Contents
Discrete event simulation as a tool for analysing complex communication systems. Modelling and SDL descriptions (SDL: the ITU-T defined Specification and Description Language). Basic principles for process-, event driven- and Markov simulations. Random numbers. Statistical analyses of output data. Powerful computer-based tools are used throughout the course.
