Aim

The aim of the course is to execute an industrial design project, if possible in a small team, based on a design brief relevant to the focus area. The brief will facilitate a profound understanding of the topic and will reflect research findings relevant to the subject. The students will during the project develop their analytical, critical and communicative skills as well as aesthetic skills and individual means of expression. Students will have the possibility to collaborate with other faculties at Lund University and/or external partners.

Contents

Based on the knowledge and experience gained in previous courses, students master their chosen topic theoretically and practically..


Students are required to develop an advanced design strategy to realise a concept (product, service or method) within the framework set by their chosen topic; delineated with a complementary research paper or substantial documentation.





Examination details

Grading scale: TH - (U,3,4,5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: 80% participation, project completion according to the guidelines set by the teacher. The outcome, whether as physical 3D prototype and/or 3D simulation or immaterial, must be presented orally, visually and in writing (project documentation) – also debating the process employed and issues encountered. Further the student has to demonstrate the ability to critically reflect and contribute to the discourse within the field in a detailed project documentation.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
