Aim

The aim with the course is to get elementary knowledge in Standard Chinese. The course is suitable, for example, as preparation for studies abroad or a future professional life where contacts with China can form part of the work.

Contents

The course provides an overview of the phonetics, phonology, basic grammar and writing system of Standard Chinese based on the reading of elementary textbook texts. The student practices listening comprehension and written and oral presentation, based on a learned set of words and constructions.

Grading scale: UV - (U,G,VG) - (Fail, Pass, Pass with Distinction)
Assessment: Written and oral examination.

The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
