This course addresses the principles and practices of real estate (RE) financing. Special emphasis is placed on the role of RE in society, and the role of different actors within the RE market. The course provides knowledge and skills concerning different financing instruments and credit forms from both the society´s and private perspectives. The course also gives insight on issues such as RE portfolio management, RE transactions, socially responsible investing (SRI), as well as future developments in the RE market.

This course focuses on the RE sector’s role in society, including the special characteristics and actors within the RE market. Focus is placed on the RE market’s connection to monetary policy, financial stability and crises. Furthermore, the course analyzes and compares the different types of RE credits, and discusses the financing of RE projects. Other topics comprise RE transactions and due diligence (DD), RE portfolio management, Socially Responsible Investing (SRI), as well as future developments in the RE market.
The course involves a project undertaken in groups.
Grading scale: TH - (U,3,4,5) - (Fail, Three, Four, Five)
Assessment: Final examination and participation in and delivery of project.
The examiner, in consultation with Disability Support Services, may deviate from the regular form of examination in order to provide a permanently disabled student with a form of examination equivalent to that of a student without a disability.
