Aim

The aim is to provide students with capability to apply and design interactive products and systems, using principles of interaction design and usability.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding
For a passing grade the student must

Define and discuss interaction design using basic concepts.

Competences and skills
For a passing grade the student must

• Fulfill an iterative project with IT-support.
• Develop and present an interactive prototype of a product or service.
• Summarise and analyse the design process and the prototype in an article using central concepts.
• Visually and orally present the project to an audience.

Judgement and approach
For a passing grade the student must

• Suggest and motivate changes of interactive products and services.
• Judge the design process and its interactive prototype using basic concepts and principles in the field of interaction design.

Contents

Central areas of the course include: Interaction design, design tools and prototypes, project management, HCI (Human-computer interaction), products and systems, usability, innovation, visualization.

Examination details

Grading scale: TH
Assessment: Project assignment is examined as a prototype and a project presentation. Individual assignment in the form of a scientific paper.

Admission

Required prior knowledge: MAMA11 Cognitive and Physical Ergonomics, MAMF30 Ergonomics, TEK210 Cognition or similar.
