Spatial Experiments II

ASEN05, 15 credits, A (Second Cycle)

Valid for: 2016/17
Decided by: Education Board D
Date of Decision: 2016-04-08

General Information

Main field: Architecture with specialization in Spatial Experiments.
Compulsory for: MARK1-spe
Elective for: A4
Language of instruction: The course will be given in English

Aim

This course will support the student's ability to experimentally explore architecture's capabilities through the design of built structures in a contextual framework tied to both the site and community. Artistically-based exercises confronts both designverktygens as building technology infrastructure capabilities and limitations. The course will give the student the ability to challenge the prevailing paradigm in the field of architecture by new future aspects.

Contents

The course trains, within the building and the urban landscape level, the ability to develop a future-related architecture through the application of an experimental laboratory work where there is still unproven is an essential ingredient in how projects are developed. Established hypotheses tested in a cyclic process to the results obtained with only the target is known. Continuous assessment will lead the design process on. Greater collaboration with other disciplines is included. International expertise involved in crucial moments. Teaching is in the form of projects where work is discussed from their practical and theoretical aspects. Architecture's relationship with the architect and engineer, tool and highlights the potential opportunity to realize profit. Supervision is provided regarding the practical application of knowledge in the architectural design of the building. Instruction is through individual and group exercises, seminars, lectures, visits and briefings. Concomitantly performed literature studies.

Examination details

Grading scale: UG
Assessment: Approved projects and assignments, and 80% attendance at seminars, field trips and lectures. Mandatory attendance at briefings. Of the proposal and presentation qualities evaluated and discussed by an evaluation team of examiners coordinator, teachers and external critics after which the examiner decides whether the project qualify for a pass. At the grade the student has the right to re-examination after completion or revision of the project. Examiner informs the student what is required to achieve a pass.
