Aim

The aim of the course Visual Communication IV is to enhance the students ability to critically reflect upon the relation between humans and our material culture. This is attained mainly by practical training in working with the realization of a redesigned piece of furniture and with the redesign of a given space. The students will also get the chance to train their ability to take part in theoretical discussions about spaces, objects and human acts; with the purpose of enhancing their knowledge of actual debates on the design of spaces and furniture design. In the course, the students will also get practical training in exhibition design.

Contents

The course includes a fundamental discussion of concepts and traditions that are central to the forming of interior space, its furnishings and furniture, which are reflected in practical work during the course. The course mainly deals with design-oriented aspects and practical exercises, but also with the aspect of how different societal and cultural conceptions of spaces and furniture affects our apprehension of them.

Examination details

Grading scale: UG
Assessment: The individual student can either Pass or Fail. To achieve the former he or she must hand in approved assignments. In addition he or she must have at least an eighty percent attendance at workshops, presentations and lectures.
