Aim

The course gives knowledge in how to analyse mechanical transmissions using relations for, and between, the included parts.

Contents

Strap, disc, and drum brakes. Threaded fasteners and power screws. Clutches. Analysis of gears, worm gears, belt drives, and planetary gears.

Examination details

Grading scale: TH
Assessment: Two compulsory design assignments. Participation in the examination requires that the assignments have been approved. These can be approved only during the exercises which are scheduled for the specific assignments. Written examination. The grades 3, 4, and 5 demand 40, 60, and 80% correctness respectively in the examination.

Admission

Required prior knowledge: FMEA30 Mechanics or FMEA01 Engineering Mechanics - Statics and Particle Dynamics together with FMEA25 Mechanics-Dynamics, and FHL013 Solid Mechanics.
