ELECTRICAL MEASUREMENTSEEM006
Mätteknik för F

Credits: 4. Grading scale: UG. Compulsory for: F1. Course coordinator: Hans W Persson, Inst f elektrisk mätteknik. Recommended prerequisites: Knowledge equivalent to Physics, Basic Course (FAF005) and Circuit Theory (ETE021). Assessment: Continuous examination. Homepage: http://www.elmat.lth.se/utbildning/utbildn.html.

Aim
The aim of the course is to provide a survey of the most important analog and digital methods for the measurement of electrical quantities. Upon completion of the course the student is expected to be able to set up instrumentation for a given measuring task as well as being able to perform simple measurements.

Contents
The basic components of measurement technology for voltage, current and impedance. The concept of impedance, input and output impedance, deviation of real impedances from the ideal. Analogue and digital oscilloscopes, probes and their limitations. Complications in HF measurements, reflections and standing waves. Simple counters for the measurement of time and frequency. Error estimation, calibration and traceability.
